Life can be…a lot. Especially the more you submerse yourself in being a part of things around you. You can lose focus, become overwhelmed, and lose ambition. As I’ve become older, I’ve continued to learn the importance of escaping to things that give me peace and serenity. Whether it's sitting by the water, taking a walk around your favorite place, or simply closing your eyes and taking a deep breath...find calmness in those environments that give you comfort.
I have always found peace by simply sitting by water. Whether it is a pier at the lake in my hometown, or a bench by a river, there's something about the water that gives me a calm comfort. I have been going to this one particular pier since I was a teenager and have found clarity through many of life's obstacles at this beautiful spot.
I've also found a similar comfort in my walks with Winston. We take a stroll down our country road almost every day. We take them at Winston's pace, which has slowed over the years. We often find ourselves stopping and just taking in the fresh air, looking out over the country side. It's quite honestly one of my favorite moments. No Facebook, no texts or calls, just myself and my boy enjoying these special moments.
In moments of chaos, feeling overwhelmed, I have also found that simply stopping what you're doing to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths has a huge impact. It's a way to reset. If that doesn't work, try stepping outside and doing the same. Life can be a lot...just take a deep breath, it will be ok 💜
